MC3

An intervention and education program for youth age 13-20, it provides various intensities of services which are determined by the needs of each youngster. Substance use, mood management, anger and relationship issues are the primary reasons that youngsters are referred by parents, schools, courts, probation and others to MC3.

Violence Intervention Services (VIS)

Added in early 1993, over 100 men are served annually in this psycho-educational model which is designed to break the cycle of violence for perpetrators. Our program ensures the safety of the victims of violence. It is based on liberating and empowering victims of violent situations.  Based on the belief that violence is a learned behavior, these classes are designed to help each participant resolve vital issues which contribute to their power and control issues, and to the continued cycle of violence. Separate groups are provided for men and women. Couples counseling is not recommended for the domestic violence-involved family. Also, co-occurring substance abuse issues must be dealt with for violence services to be effective.

New participants enter the group at any time during the 25-week period.  All classes are taught by a qualified male and female co-facilitator. The VIS program is protocol approved by the Department of Human Services and the Illinois Family Violence Council.
