This self-help group meeting list is compiled and maintained by Recovery Resources’ Staff. We thank those many individuals who help us to keep this list updated. Recovery Resources is NOT affiliated with any of these support groups. Each support group is a separate entity. Inclusion in this list of support groups is not an attestation as to the quality of any support group.

AA – Alcoholics Anonymous
ACOA – Adult Children of Alcoholics
ACRS – Adult Children of Rigid Systems
Ad Vict – Addicts Victorious
Al-Anon – Family Members of Alcoholics
Alateen – Teenage Members of Alcoholic Families
ANAD – Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Diseases
EA – Emotions Anonymous
OEA – Overeater’s Anonymous
B – BIG BOOK MEETING – A meeting which is formatted to study the book entitled “Alcoholics Anonymous”; the basic text of AA often called the Big Book
BE – BEGINNER’S MEETING – A meeting designed for those who are not familiar with A.A., its concept and/or steps. Comparable to an introductory meeting.
C – CLOSED MEETING – Only for persons who qualify for AA Membership. AA makes no determination as to who does and does not qualify for membership. When considering attending closed meetings, you are asked to apply AA’s third tradition, which states: “The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking”
CA – Cocaine Anonymous
CL - Candle Light Meeting
CODA – Co-Dependence Anonymous
D – Discussion Meeting
G – Gay
GA – Gambler’s Anonymous
Gam-Anon – Family Members of Gamblers
H - Handicapped Accessible
M – Men Only
NA – Narcotics Anonymous
N or NS – NON SMOKING MEETING – No smoking is requested at these meetings and sometimes required by code or law.
O – OPEN MEETING – Anyone interested in the subject of alcoholism and how to stop drinking may attend.
S – SPEAKER’S MEETING – Usually consists of a member selected beforehand who tells their story of what it was like, what happened, and what it is like now.
SA – Survivor’s Anonymous
SAA – Sexual Addicts Anonymous
SAFE – Self Awareness & Family Enrichment – discussions on issues pertaining to alcoholism and staying sober.
SS - Step Study
W – Women Only
WC - Wheel Chair Accessible
12 – A meeting which is formatted to study the book entitled: “The Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions”, a book written by one of the AA co-founders
